Cricket South Africa (CSA) has proudly announced the South Africa Under-19 Women’s squad set to compete in the second edition of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Scheduled to be held in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025, the tournament promises an exciting platform for rising cricket stars.
Western Province all-rounder Kayla Reyneke will lead the 15-player squad, featuring the same young talents who recently competed against Ireland and India U19 teams in Youth T20 Internationals. Additionally, five non-travelling reserves have been named: Lethabo Bidli, Keamogetswe Chuene, Jenna-Lee Lubbe, Jané Verhage, and Sinelethu Yaso.

Drawn in Group C, South Africa will face Samoa, New Zealand, and Nigeria in the group stages. The Junior Proteas will be officially capped during a ceremony at Newlands Stadium on January 5, coinciding with the national flag handover on Day 3 of the Proteas Men’s Test against Pakistan.
To prepare for the tournament, the team will train at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport from January 4-10 and play three T20 practice matches against the USA U19 team. Warm-up fixtures include games against Ireland on January 13 and India on January 15.
Head coach Dinesha Devnarain reflected on the team’s preparation, stating that the squad embodies the modern demands of cricket. She reiterated that their experiences over the last 18 months, particularly in India, had tested their resilience and highlighted opportunities for growth. She expressed confidence in the team’s ability to dominate the group stages and bring the trophy back to South Africa.
