Stoinis contributed to Lucknow's victory against Mumbai

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis achieved a score of 62 after he took a wicket, which enabled the Lucknow Super Giants to secure an IPL victory against the Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. Stoinis was the top-scorer in Lucknow’s modest chase of 145, enabling the hosts to achieve their target with four wickets and four balls to spare. This result has elevated Lucknow to third spot in the 10-team table, which is currently led by the Rajasthan Royals. Despite their fifth title, Mumbai remained ninth above the bottom-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Lucknow captain KL Rahul fell for 28, hours after being overlooked by India’s selectors, who on Tuesday afternoon named the team for the T20 World Cup in June.

Rohit, who recently celebrated his 37th birthday, along with Bumrah and Yadav, comprise three of the four Mumbai-based players selected for the Indian team for the World Cup, which commences on June 2.

Mumbai's opening innings yielded 144 runs, with Wadhera contributing 46 runs and David, batting unbeaten for 18 balls, scoring 35 runs.

Pandya stated that Wadhera will "play a lot of IPL and [represent] India eventually".

Lucknow left-arm quick Mohsin Khan took two wickets after he struck first with the wicket of Rohit, who was caught out for four by Stoinis at extra cover.

Stoinis was instrumental in the dismissal of Yadav for 10 runs, reducing Mumbai to 27-4. Naveen-ul-Haq then accounted for Pandya, who was bowled out without scoring.

Pandya responded with two wickets through his pace bowling. Stoinis, meanwhile, demonstrated his batting prowess by reaching his second fifty of the season. He has also achieved a century.

He was dismissed by Afghanistan spinner Mohammad Nabi after a 45-ball innings comprising seven fours and two sixes.

Lucknow lost two more wickets, reducing Mumbai’s prospects of a comeback, but Nicholas Pooran steered the team to victory in the final over.

Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya was named deputy to India captain Rohit Sharma for the World Cup in the West Indies and USA. The star all-rounder fell for a duck and his team suffered their seventh loss in 10 matches.
