The T20 game between India and Bangladesh will be held at a new stadium
The inaugural international fixture at Gwalior's new Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium will be the T20 International between India and Bangladesh, taking place on October 6, 2024. This match replaces the originally scheduled venue in Dharamsala, where renovation work is ongoing at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association's stadium. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the venue change, citing the necessary upgrades to the dressing rooms as a reason for the switch.
This event signifies Gwalior’s return to the international cricket arena, especially noteworthy as the city last hosted a significant match during the India-South Africa ODI in 2010, when Sachin Tendulkar became the first male cricketer to score a double century in ODIs.
Additionally, there have been adjustments to the venue for the T20I series against England in January 2025. The first T20I, previously set to be held in Chennai, will now take place in Kolkata, while Chennai will host the second T20I. The matches are scheduled for January 22 and January 25, 2025, respectively. This swap was made following a request from the Kolkata Police due to prior commitments around Republic Day.
