Team SA has lost their T20I status

Matches involving a South African university team at the African Games have lost their T20I status.

Both the men's and women's T20 cricket tournaments at the African Games in Accra, Ghana, were granted T20I status.

Therefore, all 11 players who played for South Africa in their first men's match against Ghana last Sunday officially made their T20I debuts and received T20I Proteas caps.

George van Heerden scored an official T20I century, 107 off 57 balls, during the 134-run win.

Three players made their T20I debut for South Africa in the 70-run defeat to Kenya on Monday.

However, the matches involving South Africa were recently downgraded to 'Other T20s' from T20I status. This means that the records won't count for 'List A T20' either.

It is important to note that matches between other nations at the African Games will still have T20I status.

Team SA is scheduled to play their final Group A match against Uganda on Wednesday.

Team SA squad:
George van Heerden, Dylan Bester, Lehan Botha, Ethan Frosler, Kyle Glennistor, Maahir Joseph, Keagan Lion-Cachet, Raps Motlhoaring, Lifa Ntanzi, Mini Ntobela, Heinrigh Pieterse, Jesse Prodehl, Jason Raubenheimer, Lwando Tywaku, Aphiwe Yako.
