The ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings have seen Sharma and Singh gain ground

All-rounder Deepti Sharma has achieved a career-best second position, while seam bowler Renuka Thakur has made progress towards her own career-best in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings following India’s 44-run victory over Bangladesh in the first match of their five-T20I series.

Sharma's economical bowling performance of one for 15 has enabled her to gain one spot and reach within 34 rating points of England spinner Ms Ecclestone, who leads the table with 759 rating points. Singh's match-winning performance of three for 18 has enabled her to advance four positions, reaching fourth place. This places her just one position behind the third position she held in October 2022.

Radha Yadav, a left-arm spinner, has advanced from 51st to 46th place in the bowling rankings, while Pooja Vastrakar has risen from 41st to 38th. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur has also made notable progress, moving up two places to 17th in the batting rankings. Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has gained five places, reaching 25th.

Bangladesh players have made significant gains, with captain Nigar Sultana and young leg-spinner Rabeya Khan achieving career-high rankings. Nigar’s innings of 51 has elevated her to 13th position among batters, up three places. Rabeya has also advanced eight places to eighth position with figures of three for 23 in Sylhet. New-ball bowler Marufa Akter has advanced 11 positions to 32nd.

The latest weekly updates, which also take into consideration performances in the first two matches of the five-match series between Pakistan and the West Indies as well as the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Abu Dhabi, have resulted in Ireland batter Amy Hunter moving up one slot to 19th position after scoring 71 against Zimbabwe. Her team-mate Orla Prendergast has also risen in the rankings, moving up from 37th to 33rd.

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, Player of the Match in the second T20I after scoring 58 runs and bagging three wickets, is currently ranked fourth among batters, a career best. She has also consolidated her position at the top of the all-rounders’ rankings.

Other players who have made significant gains in the batting rankings include Nida Dar of Pakistan, who has risen two places to 37th, and Muneeba Ali, also of Pakistan, who has gained five places, reaching 42nd position. In the bowling rankings, West Indies' Karishma Ramharack has advanced 13 places, reaching 22nd, while the Sri Lanka pair of Kavisha Dilhari (up three places to 26th) and Inoshi Fernando (20 places to 27th) have also made notable gains.

In the Women’s ODI batting rankings, Captain Matthews has achieved a career-best seventh position following her performance in the final match of the ICC Women’s Championship series against Pakistan, which the West Indies won 3-0. Additionally, Matthews has advanced one position to sixth among bowlers.

Stephanie Taylor (up two places to 16th among batters) and Chinelle Henry (up seven places to 29th among bowlers) are other players to have improved their batting rankings for the West Indies. Pakistan’s Aliya Riyaz has also progressed, moving up four places to 35th among batters.
