The Legend Kishan's Duleep Trophy Century Goes Unseen by Fans

Ishan Kishan delivered a brilliant century, scoring 111 off 126 balls with 14 fours and three sixes, but fans were unable to witness his innings as the match was not televised or live-streamed by the BCCI. This lack of coverage left fans frustrated, many of whom voiced their disappointment online.

The second round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy began in Anantapur, with India A taking on India C, and India B facing India D. Several key players, such as Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill, were rested ahead of the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Initially, Kishan's name was missing from the squad for India C, but on the day of the match, he took the field and produced a stunning century batting at No. 4.

Despite his impressive performance, the BCCI did not provide coverage of this particular match, unlike the India A vs. India D fixture, which received full broadcast attention. Fans expressed their frustration at being unable to watch Kishan's explosive innings and criticised the BCCI for the lack of visibility.

Kishan, who missed the first-round match due to injury, had originally been part of the India D squad but was replaced by Sanju Samson. His absence from the national team following personal reasons during India’s tour of South Africa last year had raised questions about his career trajectory. Once regarded as one of the most aggressive wicketkeeper-batters, his lack of domestic appearances was seen as a factor in his exclusion from international selections. However, his return in the Duleep Trophy has reignited hope for a comeback to the national side.
