The pitch favoured India?
Harbhajan Singh has responded strongly to Michael Vaughan's comments regarding the pitch favouring India in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi final against England. Vaughan suggested that the pitch in Guyana was biassed towards India, claiming that it suited India's playing style and was scheduled by the ICC to favour them.
Harbhajan dismissed Vaughan's claims as "nonsense" and urged him to base his arguments on logic. He emphasised that India had simply outplayed England and that Vaughan should accept the defeat gracefully.
Despite the backlash, Vaughan stood by his belief that the pitch conditions were unfair to England, suggesting that the outcome would have been different if the match had been played at a different venue.
In the semifinal match, India defeated England by 68 runs at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, with India scoring 171/7 batting first. The pitch, known for being slow and aiding spinners, played to India's strengths. Despite rain delays, Indian spinners took advantage of the conditions, leading to England's collapse at 103 runs.
Vaughan's comments sparked debate on social media, with some supporting his viewpoint while others, like Harbhajan, criticising him for not acknowledging India's superior performance.
Harbhajan and others believe that Vaughan's remarks take away from India's well-deserved victory and fail to recognize the team's skill and strategy in the match.
