The Proteas Women getting ready to be number one

The Proteas Women are gearing up for an important T20 International (T20I) series against India from 05 – 09 July at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This series serves as crucial preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 in Bangladesh in October. Captain Laura Wolvaardt emphasised the need for the team to fine-tune their strategies and plans before the World Cup.

The first match of the series will take place on Friday, 05 July at 19h00 local time (15h30 SAST), broadcast live on SuperSport Grandstand (Ch. 201). This series against India will be the Proteas Women's final competitive outing before the T20 World Cup. Wolvaardt highlighted the importance of using this opportunity to solidify their lineup and game plans.

The Proteas Women enter the series with a mixed record from the previous season, having won four out of 17 matches. Against India, South Africa has a win rate of 31% in 16 encounters. The last time the two teams faced off in T20I cricket, the Proteas emerged victorious.

Looking ahead to the series, Wolvaardt acknowledged the team's need to find extra runs and improve their consistency, both in batting and bowling. The Chepauk Stadium is known for its spin-friendly wickets, and the team's spinners are preparing for this challenge.

The Proteas Women T20I squad for the tour to India includes experienced players like Anneke Bosch, Marizanne Kapp, and Chloé Tryon. The series against India will be crucial for the team as they look to fine-tune their strategies and prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The Proteas Women will be looking to put on a strong performance in the series as they aim to prepare themselves for the challenges ahead in the T20 World Cup.
