Third T20I Between England and Australia Cancelled Due to Rain
The cricket match at Old Trafford on Sunday between England and Australia was abandoned due to ongoing rain, resulting in the series concluding in a 1-1 tie. The match, set to begin at 2:30 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. GMT), faced delays as heavy rain in Manchester left the pitch and surrounding area waterlogged.
The cut-off time for a minimum five-over match, necessary for a conclusive result, was designated as 5:46 p.m. (4:46 p.m. GMT). Unfortunately, a sudden heavy rainfall just before a scheduled pitch inspection led the umpires to cancel the game at 4:18 p.m. (3:18 p.m. GMT).
The series ended in a tie, with England having won the second T20I in Cardiff thanks to Liam Livingstone's impressive score of 87 runs. Australia had taken the series lead by winning the opener in Southampton by 28 runs.
Looking ahead, England will take on the 50-over world champions Australia in a five-match ODI series, starting this Thursday at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
