India’s matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy will take place in the UAE, a decision finalised after discussions between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Sheikh Nahyan Al Mubarak, a senior UAE minister and chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board. This move, though anticipated, solidifies the hybrid hosting model for the tournament.
PCB spokesperson Amir Mir confirmed that the UAE was selected as the neutral venue for India’s fixtures. India will face Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan in a highly anticipated clash on February 23, and New Zealand on March 2, with all games expected to be held in Dubai. Defending champions Pakistan will open their campaign against New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi and conclude their group stage against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on February 27.
The tournament’s second group features Afghanistan, Australia, England, and South Africa, with their matches spread across Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The semi-finals are scheduled for March 4 and 5, with the first semi-final to be played in the UAE if India qualifies. If not, it will take place in Pakistan. The final, set for March 9, will be held in Lahore but may shift to the UAE if India makes it to the title clash.
This hybrid hosting arrangement includes an agreement that Pakistan’s matches in ICC tournaments hosted by India through 2027 will also be held at neutral venues. The arrangement covers the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India, the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, and the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by Pakistan.
With this agreement in place, the Champions Trophy marks the beginning of a collaborative approach between the boards, ensuring both nations can participate in global events without logistical or political constraints.
