In the event of rain affecting the India vs England semi-final match of the T20 World Cup, the following will be followed:
There are 250 minutes of extra time allocated to complete each semi-final match. For the India vs England match, this time will be used on the scheduled day as there is no reserve day available.
A minimum of 10 overs must be bowled to the team batting second for the match to have a valid result unless a result is achieved earlier. This rule ensures fairness and competitiveness despite potential interruptions.
If the match ends in a tie and weather prevents the Super Over from being completed, or if the match is abandoned due to weather conditions, the team that finished first in their Super 8 Group will progress to the final.
Since India finished first in their Super 8 Group, if the India vs England semi-final match cannot produce a result, India will automatically advance to the T20 World Cup final.
Unlike the first semi-final, the second semi-final does not have a reserve day. Efforts will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day using the allocated additional time.
These regulations ensure a fair process in determining which team advances to the final in case of weather-related disruptions during the semi-final stage of the tournament.
