Following her impressive performance in the second match of the ICC Women’s Championship series in Kimberley, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has moved up to fifth position in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings.
In the first match, which ended in a ‘no result’, she scored 41, while in the second match, she scored an unbeaten 110. This means that she has overtaken Australia’s Ellyse Perry in the rankings. Wolvaardt previously held the No.1 spot in the ODI rankings and is currently ranked third in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings.
Tazmin Brits, who scored 116 and added 94 runs for the opening partnership with Wolvaardt in the first match, has moved up seven slots to the 38th position. Meanwhile, Kavisha Dilhari (up seven places to 48th) and Nilakshi de Silva (up four places to the 49th) have both climbed the rankings for Sri Lanka.
Marizanne Kapp and Ayabonga Khaka have each moved up one place in the ODI bowling rankings to third and seventh positions, respectively. Inoka Ranaweera, former captain of Sri Lanka, has moved up one place to the 17th. Oshadi Ranasinghe has moved up 12 places to the 34th, and Dilhari has moved up 10 places to the 57th after each bagging two wickets in the first match.
Scotland's Kathryn Bryce and Sarah Bryce have made significant progress in the latest women's weekly player rankings update. The update also takes into account their performances in a tri-series in Abu Dhabi, which included Papua New Guinea and the United States of America (USA).
Captain Kathryn has moved up 16 places to the 46th position after scoring 73 against PNG, while wicketkeeper-batter Sarah has advanced 80 places to the 65th with a score of 84 against the USA. PNG's Tanya Ruma has climbed 138 places to the 85th after scoring an unbeaten 80 against the USA.
Off-spinner Sibona Jimmy of PNG has moved up 15 places to 68th position after taking three wickets against Scotland and one against the USA. Henao Thomas, Vicky Araa, and Isabel Toua, all from PNG, as well as Abtaha Maqsood from Scotland, have made notable progress.
