Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially launched the Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup, a new biennial tournament designed to equip Asian teams for the Under-19 World Cup. This announcement was made during the ACC's executive meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
Following the success of last year's inaugural Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup, this new competition aims to create a vital platform for young female cricketers to develop their skills and showcase their talents. The first edition of the Asia Cup is set to take place in mid-December 2024, just before the Under-19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia from January to February 2025. Specific details about the venue and participating teams are still being finalised.
ACC president Jay Shah expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Today marks a significant milestone for cricket in Asia. The Women’s U-19 Asia Cup is a crucial advancement for the game, providing young female players with essential opportunities to grow and shine. We are hopeful that this initiative will have a profound and lasting influence, not only within our member nations but also in the broader global cricket landscape."
