It's not Virat Kohli
Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player AB de Villiers hopes to witness Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya's bowling skills in the IPL 2024. De Villiers emphasises the significance of Hardik's role as an all-rounder for the five-time champions.
Preparations for the 17th edition of the tournament are in full swing. A new skipper has taken charge. Hardik has replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of one of the most successful franchises.
Pandya aims to lead the team by demonstrating his all-round abilities, as he did during his two-year tenure with Gujarat Titans.
AB de Villiers said:
“Mumbai Indians needed Hardik Pandya to come back to make the balance of the team strong. I hope he will play a big role with the ball in his hand and be the contributor that Mumbai Indians need him to be.”
Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also praised by AB de Villiers.
Bumrah was unable to participate in the IPL 2023 due to a back injury. Although he was out of cricket for almost a year, he made an impressive return to international cricket. Bumrah is widely regarded as one of the most successful bowlers in the Indian Premier League.
