Anrich Nortje understands what is best for his body

EP Warriors coach Robin Peterson has stated that Anrich Nortje will determine his bowling pace upon his return from injury.

Nortje, who suffered a stress fracture in his lower back, is set to play his first competitive match in seven months when the Warriors face the KZN Inland Tuskers in their T20 Challenge opener at St George’s Park on Friday

He missed out on last year’s ODI World Cup in India due to the injury and was also absent from the recent SA20 tournament.

Nortje trained intensively for seven weeks and fully participated in two intra-squad matches before the T20 Challenge.

However, it may take some time for him to regain his top form.

Warriors coach Robin Peterson stated:

“Anrich is professional enough to understand that he’s in the best position to determine what’s going to be best for his body at the moment. If he believes he can maintain that pace we’ve become so used to and thrilled by, then you’ve got to back him. If he needs to find a rhythm more steadily, then so be it.”
