Bumrah's record five-for and MI's Wankhede half-century: A statistical comparison between Mumbai and RCB

Mumbai Indians have successfully chased a target of 190-plus runs on 9 occasions, which is tied for the most such chases in all T20s with Punjab Kings.

Additionally, this was the 11th time a target of 190-plus runs was chased against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which is tied for the most against any team in T20s with Punjab Kings.

Mumbai's run rate during successful 190-plus target chases in the IPL is among the highest in the league. Their highest run rate of 13.29 was achieved during a 190-run chase against Rajasthan Royals in 2014 at Wankhede. They also achieved a run rate of 12.83 against Kings XI Punjab in 2017 when they chased down 199 in 15.3 overs.

Mumbai achieved a milestone by becoming the first team to complete 50 wins at a single IPL venue (excluding super over victories) - the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah made history by becoming the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul against RCB in the IPL, surpassing Ashish Nehra's previous best of 4 for 10 in the 2015 edition.

Bumrah now has five five-wicket hauls in the IPL. He is now one of only four bowlers to have taken multiple five-wicket hauls in the IPL, joining James Faulkner, Jaydev Unadkat, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Thursday's game marked the 21st time Bumrah has taken three or more wickets in an IPL match, the most by any bowler.

On Thursday at the Wankhede, Bumrah's economy rate was 5.25, while the other 12 bowlers conceded 372 runs in 31.3 overs at an economy of 11.8, taking six wickets at 62. Bumrah took a wicket every 4.2 runs and was hit for only two boundaries in 24 balls.

Mumbai has had four fifties in powerplay overs in the IPL, two of which were scored by Ishan Kishan - one against RCB on Thursday and the other against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021. Sanath Jayasuriya in 2008 and Lendl Simmons in 2014 are the only other Mumbai batters to have scored an IPL fifty within the powerplay.

Suryakumar Yadav reached his fifty in just 17 balls, making it the joint-second fastest for Mumbai in the IPL. The quickest fifty for Mumbai in the IPL was scored by Kishan in just 16 balls against Sunrisers in 2021.

This is also Surya's fastest fifty in all T20s, with his previous fastest being an 18-ball effort against South Africa in Guwahati in 2022.

The partnership between Rohit Sharma and Ishan marked the first century opening stand involving Rohit in the IPL. Prior to Thursday, Rohit had opened the batting in 92 innings, but the highest opening stand he had been part of was 96 with Quinton de Kock against Rajasthan Royals in 2019.
