Herschelle Gibbs has questioned David Bedingham’s omission from CSA’s group of contracted Proteas.
Bedingham, who has made an excellent start to his Test career, scoring 347 runs at an average of 49.57, including a century and two fifties, was not offered a CSA contract for the 2024-25 season.
Gibbs expressed his disappointment on X, stating that Bedingham is the most complete batsman for the Proteas, accompanied by a facepalm emoji.
He also criticized Test captain Temba Bavuma for choosing to be on the sidelines during the SA20 while the national team struggled in New Zealand, calling it 'disgraceful.'
When asked why all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo gets a contract ahead of someone like Bedingham, Gibbs replied, 'We all know why.'
Fast bowler Anrich Nortje was also omitted from the contracted group. Nortje recently returned from injury after missing the ODI World Cup and SA20.
