Deepti Sharma is determined to give her all for the team as they prepare for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup. Despite the recent venue change—from Bangladesh to the UAE due to unrest in the host nation—Deepti remains committed to contributing significantly to her team's success. The ICC announced that the tournament will take place in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to 20, while Bangladesh retains its hosting rights and revenue.
"The venue of the World Cup is not my concern; my focus is solely on how I can support the team as an all-rounder," Deepti shared in an exclusive interview with PTI during the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards. "I aim to give my utmost effort. The last four to five months have been fruitful for us, and we hope to maintain that momentum in our quest to win a trophy. We're also familiar with the playing conditions in the UAE," she added.
Deepti has been in exceptional form lately, performing well with both bat and ball, and she is genuinely enjoying her cricket. "I’m relishing the game, and that enjoyment helps me handle pressure more effectively. I've learned from other international players that when you truly enjoy the game, your on-field performance improves."
She attributes this positive shift in mindset to her experience in the Women’s Super League in 2018. "Since then, I've made it a habit to stay calm under pressure and have integrated that into my game."
Recently, Deepti made a significant impact during The Hundred 2024 while playing for London Spirit Women, sealing the team's first-ever title with a thrilling winning six. Reflecting on that achievement, she remarked, "It was incredible—something I had been longing for. Winning for your team is always a special experience. I expressed my gratitude to God for his blessings because, in those moments, self-belief is crucial. If you believe, you can accomplish anything."
