INDABA, which will be held in South Africa

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is excited to announce the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Indaba, scheduled for July 26 to 28, 2024, in Tshwane.

This important event will review the resolutions made during the 2018 Transformation Indaba and evaluate the progress achieved within the cricket community over the past five years.

The Indaba will bring together thought leaders and cricket professionals—including players and management—to discuss strategies for enhancing DEI initiatives in the sport. Representatives from the 16 CSA affiliates will be present, including DEI Chairpersons, CEOs, Cricket Services Managers (CSMs), coaches, and other key stakeholders.

Key topics for discussion will cover selection patterns and opportunities, developmental strategies from grassroots to professional levels, organisational leadership, and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, the DSAC Transformation Charter and the sustainability of cricket in South Africa will be focal points.

CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, "We are thrilled to host this Indaba, bringing together crucial stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in South African cricket. This Indaba is a significant milestone in our dedication to fostering an environment where every individual feels valued and has the chance to excel. We look forward to the insights and outcomes that will help guide the sport toward a more inclusive and equitable future."

Moseki further emphasised CSA's dedication, saying, "We are committed to nurturing an inclusive cricket ecosystem that showcases the diversity and excellence of our nation. The DEI Indaba is a vital step in our continuous journey toward equity and inclusion."

Ms Muditambi Ravele, Lead Independent Director and DEI Chairperson, shared her thoughts: "Our 2023 roadshow and discussions with stakeholders helped us identify essential issues and develop actionable recommendations. A clear need emerged for a dedicated Transformation Committee, to provide guidance and foster dialogue among members on their transformation paths.

"This led to the establishment of our DEI Indaba, where we aim to set a course for CSA that emphasises Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, rooted in the principle of Belonging. We eagerly anticipate in-depth discussions and resolutions that will pave the way for a more inclusive and diverse cricketing landscape."
