India Prepares for Crucial Test Against Bangladesh at Green Park

As India prepares to face Bangladesh in the second Test at Kanpur, it’s an opportune moment to delve into the performances of two of its stalwarts, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, at the iconic Green Park Stadium.

Rohit Sharma and his team currently hold a robust 1-0 lead in the ongoing two-Test series, having secured a commanding 280-run victory in the first Test played in Chennai. The upcoming Test, scheduled to commence on Friday, September 27, is pivotal for India as they aim to strengthen their position in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. A 2-0 series win would significantly enhance their standing at the top of the WTC Points Table.

Regarding individual records at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium, Rohit Sharma has made quite an impression, scoring two centuries in five matches, encompassing both ODIs and Tests. He has accumulated a total of 432 runs across these appearances. In his sole Test at this venue in 2016, Rohit scored 35 runs in the first innings and improved to 68 in the second.

Virat Kohli, too, has left his mark at Green Park, achieving a century during his tenure there. The former Indian captain has participated in four ODIs and one Test match in Kanpur, compiling a total of 199 runs. In his Test match against New Zealand at this ground in 2016, Kohli managed modest scores of 9 in the first innings and 18 in the second.

India boasts a rich legacy at Green Park Stadium, having played Test cricket there since 1952. With 23 Test matches contested, India has secured 7 victories, faced 3 defeats, and managed 13 draws. Since 2010, they have played only two Tests at this venue—both against New Zealand—winning the match in 2016 and drawing the one in 2021.
