The teams from India and Pakistan will play each other on July 9 in New York at the present T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA, where they are in Group A.
In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, India will play Pakistan on July 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. It's one of the greatest rivalries in sports annals. “We know the India-Pakistan match generates more discussion than any other match,” said Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on PCB podcast.
“Wherever you go in the world, you’ll have people talking about the India-Pakistan match with everyone supporting their country. Every fan eagerly waits for the fixture and focuses on this one particular match,” Babar would observe. “The expectations and hype around the match cause some nervousness,” he added.
Babar did, however, provide a strategy for handling pressure and nervousness. “It all comes down to how you handle it and the more you focus on basics, the easier it will be for you as a player,” Babar advised. “It’s a game of immense pressure and if you keep your cool, stay calm, and trust your hard work and skills things will be easier.”
Teams from Pakistan and India are arranged in Group A. Both sides have shown mediocre results in the most recent World Cups. India will arrive in the Americas looking like the notorious bickering Pakistan sides of the past. Since Dhoni's first Cup, India has choked again. But in the 50-over ICC tournament held last year, the core of this team did play some beautiful cricket. Notwithstanding the additional baggage they carry, non-favourites India will attempt to pull off a Pakistanesque victory with coach Rahul Dravid having the chance to banish memories of the 2007 Caribbean series.
Pakistan, however, has dropped two finals and three semifinal matches. However, they can be regarded as the most reliable T20 squad out of all of them, finishing in the top four six times out of eight editions, which may be a stunning rebranding statistic working in their favour. This record may cause the label of "unpredictable" to vanish. Despite being volatile and riven by factions, Pakistan is still a strong T20 team on paper.
