Rajasthan Royals is assisting Sri Lanka for India Series

Interim head coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team, Sanath Jayasuriya, has announced that the team is receiving support from the Rajasthan Royals (RR) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to gear up for their upcoming series against India. Jayasuriya revealed that Zubin Bharucha, the director of high performance for RR, has played a key role in preparing Sri Lankan batsmen for the three-match T20I series.

The T20I series between Sri Lanka and India is set to commence on July 27. Jayasuriya, who is temporarily filling the head coach position, aims to revitalise the team's prospects in the T20 format after their disappointing exit in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Additionally, the former team captain, Wanindu Hasaranga, resigned from his position after the tournament.

To enhance their training, Sri Lanka turned to Zubin Bharucha, who is recognised for developing talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal. Bharucha conducted a six-day workshop with the Sri Lankan players, concentrating on innovative techniques and strategies.

"We began our sessions right after the LPL. Most of the players were engaged with the LPL, so we aimed to maximise our on-field practice," Jayasuriya said, as quoted by PTI. "We brought in Zubin from the Rajasthan Royals and had around six days of training with the players who completed the LPL. I hope the players have absorbed what you (management) wanted to achieve concerning their practice and technical skills. Learning new techniques and shot-making is crucial for success at the international level," he added.

In terms of their series preparation, Jayasuriya noted that the team would take a two-day rest before the first match on July 27.

Here is the Sri Lanka squad for the T20I series against India:

Charith Asalanka (c), Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Janith Perera (wk), Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis (wk), Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, Dushmantha Chameera, and Binura Fernando.

This partnership with Bharucha and the Rajasthan Royals underlines Sri Lanka's dedication to improving their T20 performance and preparing thoroughly for their upcoming matches against India.
