At Kingsmead, Western Province defeated the KZN Dolphins by a narrow margin of two runs. The Dolphins required 18 runs off the final over bowled by Beuran Hendricks but fell short despite Prenelan Subrayen hitting a boundary and a six off the first two balls.
Dolphins captain Keshav Maharaj managed to score a four off the penultimate ball, but could only take a single off the final delivery, leaving his team with a total of 146-7.
Proteas fast bowler Nandre Burger claimed figures of 1-13 in his four overs, with Mthiwekhaya Nabe (2-37) and Kyle Simmonds (2-18) also taking two wickets each.
Western Province had set a target of 148-8, with Jono Bird contributing 40 off 30 balls and Simmonds scoring 25 off 22.
Okuhle Cele (2-27) and Andile Phehlukwayo (2-29) each took two wickets for the Dolphins.
