WI Women Bounce Back with Six-Wicket Win Over Scotland in T20 WC

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – After a tough 10-wicket loss to South Africa, the West Indies Women bounced back with a solid six-wicket victory over Scotland in their second Group B match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing a modest target of 100, the West Indies’ innings started unsteadily, with Stafanie Taylor, who scored an unbeaten 44 in the previous match, falling for just 4 runs with the score at 5. Captain Hayley Matthews followed shortly after, dismissed for 8 from 19 balls. However, Qiana Joseph steadied the innings, smashing 31 off 18 balls, which included three boundaries and a six. Deandra Dottin contributed an unbeaten 28 off 15 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes, while Chinelle Henry, named Player of the Match, added an unbeaten 18 off 10 balls, with two fours and a six. West Indies reached the target of 101 in 11.4 overs.

Earlier, Scotland managed 99-8 from their 20 overs, with Ailsa Lister top-scoring with 26, while Afy Fletcher was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, taking 3 for 22. Matthews, Henry, and Karishma Ramharack each chipped in with a wicket.

West Indies will face Bangladesh next on Thursday.
