The ICC has announced that the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will now be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) across Dubai and Sharjah, featuring a total of 23 matches. The tournament was relocated from Bangladesh due to political instability, with the UAE chosen as the new host nation.
Matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The first semi-final is scheduled for October 17 in Dubai, followed by the second semi-final on October 18. Both semi-finals and the final, set for October 20 in Dubai, will have designated reserve days.
One of the key fixtures will see India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, facing off against Fatima Sana's Pakistan on October 6 in Dubai. Additionally, India will play New Zealand on October 4 and Sri Lanka on October 9, both in Dubai. Their final group match will be against Australia on October 13. If India advances to the semi-finals, they will participate in the first semi-final in Dubai.
Ahead of the tournament, India will play two warm-up matches: against the West Indies on Sunday, September 29, at ICCA2 in Dubai, and against South Africa on Tuesday, October 1, at ICCA1, Dubai. In total, 10 warm-up matches are scheduled over four days leading up to the tournament, which begins on October 3.
The opening day of the World Cup will feature two matches in Sharjah: Bangladesh vs. Scotland and Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka.
